     Pieper Red Angus held their 17th annual spring sale March 24, 2006, which was postponed from the original date of March 21 because of a major Spring snow storm on the plains. Over 150 registered buyers from several states were on hand to aggressively bid and buy the performance leading bulls.

     Lot 1, PIE Gridmaster 589 topped the sale at $57,500.00 for 1/2 interest, going to Lorenzen Ranches and partners from Pendleton, Oregon. A son of LCB Hoss A44N, Gridmaster, as his name implicates, had an outstanding carcass ultrasound evaluation with a 16.1 ribeye and 6.13 Adj. IMF. Low birth and high ratios for growth make him a future breed leading sire! Tied for second high selling were bulls Lot #3 and Lot #7 both selling for $14,000.00. PIE Cartwright 5066, a 3/4 brother to Lot #1, sold with full possession and 2/3 interest to Broken Heart Ranch at Firesteel, SD. A 1508 LB. Adj. 365 day wt ratioed him at 121, making him a performance leading superstar. Lot #8, PIE Maximizer, 5052 found a good home with a partnership between Gill Red Angus, Timber Lake, SD and Von Forell Ranch at Wheatland, WY. He is a son of PIE Atlantic 2204 who has proven himself to sire deep ribbed, high weaning weight bulls like Maximizer who boasted a 836 LB Adj. 205 day wt. with a 4.14 LB test gain. Rocking R from Plainville KS. purchased two outstanding Red Angus herd sires in Lot #4 PBCC Buckshot 5102 for $11,000.00 and Lot #7 PIE Countdown 5010 for $10,000.00. They also took home the high selling Black Angus bull, Mill Iron New Time 506, for $8500.00, who had a 1636 Adj. 365 day wt. Over 20 future herd sires sold from $7500.00 to $11,000.00 to the following purebred breeders: Barenthsen Red Angus, Richardton, ND; Lodoen Cattle Company, Westhope, ND; Kolle Red Angus, Inex, TX; T Bar T, Harrison, AR;Fritz Red Angus, Brady, MT; Hueftle Cattle Co., Cozad, NE; Westphal Red Angus, Grass Range, MT; Taubenheim Farms, Amherst, NE; Pelton Red Angus, Burdett, KS; Samp Red Angus, Benkelman, NE and Schanks Sun Valley, Richardton, ND.

     Turkey Track Livestock and Nine Mile Cattle from Douglas, WY, long time Pieper bull buyers took home 8 top bulls for an average of $8750.00 to make them one of the volume buyers also.

      Dr. Keith Shuey and Son, Dr. Scott Shuey from NE & IA purchased the high selling heifer, Lot 127, a March born, Grand Slam sired, show heifer prospect for $4600.00. Breeze Hill Farm, Bedford, IN purchased the second high selling heifer, Lot 192 for $4500.00. Volume bull buyers were Wagonhound Land & Livestock, Douglas, WY with 12 bulls, Turkey Track Livestock, Douglas, WY with 8 bulls. McFall Ranch, Lakeside, NE; Hodson Ranch, Martin, SD; Ron Bouzidan, Waynoka, OK; Bill & Scott White, Oelrichs, SD; Redgate Ranch, Waynoka, OK; Bob Downs, Douglas, WY; Jessen Ranch, Norfolk, NE; Lee Plendl, Maurice, IA all purchased from 4 to 6 bulls each. Samp Red Angus, Benkelman, NE was volume heifer buyer with nine head.
